One thing I didn’t realize when first growing lavender was how important it is to thin out and lightly trim back the shrubs. The information that it should not be cut back into old wood was something I’d adhered to, but not the importance of creating a more open plant. This is the same idea that is used for pruning fruit trees! Who knew that lavender needed the same treatment? Now you do.

Thin it out with judicious pruning within the plant- lavenders like air!
